By partially overexposing and underexposing the original photograph, color reversals are created in which parts of the image appear positive and others negative. This “disturbance” creates surreal color changes that lend the image a fantastic and haunting atmosphere. This creates an intermediate space between photographic realism and painterly fiction that seduces the viewer into a poetic, dreamlike world.
